Is Your Child Struggling? Worried He or She Might Have a Learning Disability?
Want to Get Your Kids READING and WRITING? It's EASY!
Step 1
Teach your kids letters and sounds! They need to recognize letters and associate them with their sounds quickly upon seeing them -- out of order!
|
Step 2
Show your kids how to blend and/or segment the sounds they have learned so they can begin reading and writing their first words! A good blending technique is a MUST!
|
Step 3
Teach your kids the TRICKS so they can read all sorts of words, not just the simple ones!
("Tricks" are letters and/or letter combinations that make new sounds when they appear together or in a certain position in words than they normally do when alone. Sh, ch, th, er, or, ar, ou, oo, y endings, and tion are all examples of "tricks" your kids need to know.) |
Step 4
Help your kids adjust "outlaw words" as they come across them so they can read and/or write words with them appropriately.
"Outlaw words" are words that can't be sounded out properly even if you know all of the "tricks." (Think: through, though, to, do, was, of, said, etc.) |
Step 5
Make sure your kids get TONS of real world practice using their new skills! READ, READ, READ, and WRITE, WRITE, WRITE! The more your kids practice using the skills they have learned, the better they should get at reading and writing! Fluency comes with proper practice! Get your kids reading and writing REAL TEXT daily!
