Hello! I'm Katy Huller.
And I have an exciting new series to share with you!
I've been teaching kids to read and write for over 18 years now. During this time, I have worked with all sorts of kids. Gifted kids. Dyslexic kids. Hyper kids. Calm kids. Average kids. Speech impaired kids. Distracted kids. Below average kids. Low language kids. And a mix of many of the above! Despite the variety of kids and reading/writing problems they have come to me with, I've had great results.
Now I want to help you get the same great results. It's really not that hard to do, especially if you start when your kids are YOUNG and just beginning the process!
My new series, Kids Can! READ and WRITE!, will walk you through exactly what you need to say and do to get your kids reading and writing! Written in simple, easy-to-understand language, each short book (aside from the letters and sounds one) contains exactly what you need (step-by-step instructions, words lists, practice sentences, worksheets, and even some game ideas) to get your preschool, kindergarten, and or first grade students reading and writing with whatever skill is being focused on for that particular book. If you go through the books in order, making sure your kids master each book along the way, you should see your kids' reading and writing skills develop quite naturally and easily. By the time you get to the end of the series, your kids should be reading and writing! At that point, you'll simply need to continue having them read and write on a daily basis so their skills can continue to grow!
If you are ready to get your kids reading and writing, start with the appropriate book today! You can also utilize our free word card program! Just pick the "tricks" you have gone over by clicking the appropriate box, create a word card set, and remember to shuffle them! Then have your kids sound out one word after the other, stopping whenever you feel your kids have had enough practice for the day! It's a great way to test their growing skills and review any "tricks" they are having trouble remembering! If you'll ask your kids to use each word in a sentence after reading it, it will also help you check to make sure your kids aren't just calling out words but are understanding what each word means as well!
Wishing you all the best and much success,
Katy Huller

Want to Get Your Kids READING and WRITING? It's EASY!
Step 1
Teach your kids letters and sounds! They need to the letters and their sounds quickly upon seeing them -- out of order! |
Step 2
Show your kids how to blend and/or segment the sounds they have learned so they can begin reading and writing their first words!
|
Step 3
Teach your kids the TRICKS so they can read all sorts of words, not just the simple ones!
("Tricks" are letters and/or letter combinations that make new sounds when they appear together or in a certain position in words than they normally do when alone. Sh, ch, th, er, or, ar, ou, oo, y endings, and tion are all examples of "tricks" your kids need to know.) |
Step 4
Help your kids adjust "outlaw words" as they come across them so they can read and/or write words with them appropriately.
"Outlaw words" are words that can't be sounded out properly even if you know all of the "tricks." (Think: through, though, to, do, was, of, said, etc.) |
Step 5
Make sure your kids get TONS of real world practice using their new skills! READ, READ, READ, and WRITE, WRITE, WRITE! The more your kids practice using the skills they have learned, the better they should get at reading and writing! Fluency comes with proper practice! Get your kids reading and writing REAL TEXT daily!
